Understanding the quote ” To comprehend the word serenity and know peace” is key if we are to accept the truth in our lives. When I first tried to apply recovery principals to my life, I defined serenity as “To drink without consequences”. This type of thinking allowed me to draw lines. If I could just maintain sobriety effectively enough the consequences of my drinking would disappear. This was a lie my addiction used to keep me in bondage.
Serenity defined is “the state of being calm or tranquil. Its also a noun, which makes it a person, place or thing. Aren’t we instructed to change these three? The quest to drink without trouble  in my life kept me a slave. it was a constant working of a combination that would unlock a way to return to the poison that sought to enslave me. 
Today my serenity is defined differently. The freedom to choose daily is a gift from God that keeps me grateful that I’m no longer a slave.  No lines need be drawn because no destination is sought. Only the peace in the day matters. That peace I comprehend as serenity. Calm and tranquil in the freedom not to drink, no longer a slave I find peace.  EC 

Rookie. No one likes to be new. We resist it with all we are. However, new things are the gateway to growth. Remaining stagnant we die in our complacency. We must push past the comfort of remaining and move to the unfamiliar. This is my first attempt to share my thoughts with others. New Blog, new site, new outlet for my insanity. I’m nervous but hopefully, if only one reads a word and is empowered to step forward into the uncertainty of future its as it should be.EC

Recently I’ve discovered that God doesn’t need a defense attorney. Decisions I make are my own, however if I rely on the guidance of the Spirit there is no need to  justify. Reasons are only needed to defend my will and are used to convince myself and others that I’m right in a decision. God has no need for back up in this fashion. His will is perfect in all ways. It may be (and most times is) completely illogical to outsiders perception but the results are undeniable.   They always contain a relevant story of how this impossible decision gave glory to the creator. How in the journey, the pain was transformed into the healing energy which fuels growth and strengthens future. I like the phrase “Easy as breathing“. It truly is in a sense that as life hurls its dilemmas in my path, the peace of abiding in the guidance of the Spirit is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my pathway. 

Lord, May I always seek to abide in your perfect will for me. May my life be a testament to your love and always bring glory and honor to your son Jesus. Amen
